چکیده
Salvia genus, representative for the Lamiaceae family as it comprises approximately one thousand different species, is considered a wide plethora of therapeutic actions, such antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, antitumoral and antidiabetic activity. The paper presents preliminary chromatographic investigations polyphenols in aerial parts some spp. Using high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) coupled with photodensitometry, caffeic acid was identified quantified 20% methanolic extracts Salviaeherba, descending order, follows: S. nemorosa (3.096%) > verticillata (3.041%) sclarea (2.663%) glutinosa (1.962%) aethiopis (0.926%).

Ethanol extracts obtained from two Salvia species, S. triloba and S. dominica, collected from the flora of Jordan, were evaluated for their antiproliferative activity against MCF7 and T47D breast cancer cell lines by the sulforhodamine B assay. The ethanol extracts were biologically active with IC50 values of (29.89 ±0.92) and (38.91 ±2.44) μg/mL for S. triloba against MCF7 and T47D cells, resp...
